Participation disclaimer.
These terms apply to everyone who posts a hunt, contributes KAS, submits a claim, or casts a vote on Stag Hunt. Participating means accepting them.
1. No entitlement to payout
Submitting a claim, performing work toward the stated standards, or otherwise participating does not create any right, claim, or entitlement to the bounty or offer pot. The only claim that receives payout is the one selected through the voting process defined on the campaign page. Fulfilling — or believing you fulfilled — the listed criteria is not sufficient.
2. No reimbursement
Any time, money, labour, travel, equipment, or other costs you incur while working toward a claim or offer are at your own expense. You will not be reimbursed by the campaign creator, by backers, by the referees, or by Stag Hunt — regardless of whether your claim is selected, and regardless of whether you believe you met the stated standards.
3. Referee judgment is subjective and final
The referees evaluate submissions in their sole, subjective discretion. Their decision is final. The standards and criteria listed on a campaign page are guidance — referees may weigh, interpret, apply, or ignore them as they see fit. Disagreement with a referee's decision does not create a legal claim against the referee, the campaign creator, the backers, Stag Hunt, or any affiliate.
4. No contract, employment, or agency relationship
Posting a campaign, backing a campaign, submitting a claim, or casting a vote does not create an employment relationship, service agreement, contractor relationship, partnership, joint venture, or fiduciary duty between any participants. No party is obligated to act in any other party's interest.
5. Your own jurisdiction
Participants may be located anywhere. You are solely responsible for complying with the laws of your jurisdiction, including those governing crowdfunding, prize contests, promotional activities, taxes, and reporting.
6. Not an investment
Stag Hunt is not an investment platform, securities exchange, or financial product. Backing a campaign is a contribution, not an investment, and no backer should expect financial return, interest, equity, or appreciation on contributions.
7. As-is
Stag Hunt, the campaign creators, backers, and referees provide all services on an as-is basis with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Submissions become public-domain property
You are giving up your rights in whatever you submit. By submitting any content to Stag Hunt — including but not limited to campaign titles, descriptions, standards, criteria, claim evidence, linked media, URLs, images, video, audio, attachments, comments, votes, ballots, and any other material — you irrevocably dedicate that content to the public domain worldwide, to the fullest extent permitted by law. After submission, any person anywhere in the world — not just Stag Hunt, the campaign creator, the backers, or the referees, but any individual, company, competitor, or unrelated third party — may access, use, copy, reproduce, store, cache, display, publicly perform, publish, transmit, excerpt, quote, modify, adapt, translate, annotate, remix, create derivative works from, distribute, archive, sell, and otherwise exploit your submission, in any medium now known or later developed, for any purpose, including commercial purposes, with or without attribution, without any payment, permission, or notice to you.
8a. Fallback license where dedication is not permitted
Some jurisdictions (including certain civil-law countries) do not allow an author to dedicate a work to the public domain. Where that is the case in your jurisdiction, and only where the dedication in Section 8 is not legally effective, you instead grant to every person in the world a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, unconditional, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully sublicensable, and transferable license to do every act listed in Section 8. This fallback license has the same practical effect as a public-domain dedication and applies automatically wherever the dedication in Section 8 is not given full effect.
8b. Unconditional and irrevocable
The dedication in Section 8 (and the fallback license in Section 8a) is unconditional, final, and cannot be revoked — not by you, not by your heirs, not by any successor-in-interest, not by Stag Hunt, and not by any downstream user. It is not contingent on winning the campaign, receiving the pot, being selected as a claim, or anything else. It applies the moment you submit. It survives the closure of the campaign, the disqualification or non-selection of your submission, the deletion of your account, the termination of Stag Hunt, and your death.
9. Ownership, rights, and indemnity
You represent and warrant that, for each submission, you either own all rights in the content or have obtained every license, consent, release, and permission required to make the dedication in Section 8 and to grant the fallback license in Section 8a — including, where relevant, releases from any third parties visible or identifiable in the content. You will not submit content that infringes any third party's copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, right of privacy, right of publicity, contractual right, or any other right. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Stag Hunt, the campaign creator, all backers, the referees, and any downstream user of the content from any claim, liability, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you submitted or from any breach of this Section 9.
10. Public record — no takedown
Claim evidence, ballots, votes, disqualification flags, campaign descriptions, standards, and comments are part of the public record of the campaign in which they appear. They remain visible to the public indefinitely, including after the campaign concludes and including where a submission is disqualified, not selected, refunded, or withdrawn. You cannot require Stag Hunt, creators, backers, referees, archivers, search engines, or any third party to delete, retract, redact, hide, or de-index your submission. You hereby waive any right to request such takedown.
11. Moral rights
To the fullest extent permitted by the law of your jurisdiction, you waive any moral rights, droit moral, or analogous rights you may have in any content you submit — including rights of attribution, integrity, disclosure, and withdrawal. Where any such right cannot be waived, you irrevocably agree not to assert it against Stag Hunt, the campaign creator, backers, referees, or any downstream user of your content.
12. Backing is a donation — you are entitled to nothing in return
Contributing KAS to a campaign on Stag Hunt is a donation. You receive nothing in exchange for it: no goods, no services, no equity, no tokens, no governance rights, no interest, no dividends, no priority access, and no first look at the results of the campaign. You are funding a possibility. You do not acquire any right, title, or interest in the work a proposer or claimant may produce — including any deliverable, output, intellectual property, or artefact — even where that output exists in the public domain under Section 8. You accept that the entire transaction is your contribution leaving your wallet, and nothing else.
13. No recall, no on-demand refund
Once your contribution is made, it cannot be pulled back, reversed, cancelled, or refunded at your request. Refunds occur only as a conditional outcome of the campaign's own state machine — for example, a missed funding deadline, or no winning claim before the judging deadline. These are outcomes, not services. Neither Stag Hunt, the campaign creator, nor the referees will refund you because you changed your mind, disagreed with the referees' decision, disliked the output, or wished the campaign had gone differently.
14. Stag Hunt is not in custody of your funds
Stag Hunt is a front-end. It surfaces campaigns, aggregates signed attestations from referees, and displays state. It is not a bank, a broker, an escrow agent, a payment processor, a money-services business, or a fiduciary. Once your KAS leaves your wallet it is held inside an on-chain covenant UTXO with rules compiled into the script at campaign creation. Stag Hunt does not hold, route, or control your contribution, and cannot move funds on behalf of any party.
15. What happens after you contribute is not our responsibility
You acknowledge that Stag Hunt, the campaign creator, the other backers, the referees, and each of their affiliates and successors are not liable for any loss, theft, misapplication, diversion, mistaken release, failed delivery, or non-delivery affecting your contribution after it has been made, regardless of cause. This includes (without limitation) losses due to smart-contract or covenant defects, protocol bugs, key compromise, whitelist collusion, creator misconduct, claimant fraud, referee misjudgement, human error, operational failure, or force majeure. Your risk is limited to the amount you contributed; you have no claim beyond it, against any party.
By posting, backing, submitting, or voting, you confirm you have read, understood, and accepted these terms. If you do not accept them, do not participate.
